This little video speaks to me. I think it tells two good lessons for online learning: (1) collaborating improves the group experience, and (2) we are better together than individually (even when together only virtually). Enjoy!
CLASS OVERVIEW
My classes are fully-online conducted asynchronously in Canvas with support from an online digital learning platform (e.g. MyMathLab, Knewton Alta, WebAssign). They are NOT "remote learning" format, thus have no real-time class meetings (i.e. NO Zoom). You will "go to class" in Canvas. The modules in Canvas will guide you through the weekly requirements and content including linking to the e-textbook, video tutorials, mini-lectures and examples, practice problems, assignments, and tests.
MANDATORY CLASS ORIENTATION REQUIREMENTS
The MANDATORY CLASS ORIENTATION is held in your Canvas online classroom on the first two days of the term. Failure to complete either of these Day #1-2 requirements properly and on time will result in your being no-show dropped from class.
Day #1:
Before 11:59 pm (PT) on the first day of the quarter:
REQUIRED: Login to Canvas and enter your math class to secure your day one attendance.
RECOMMENDED: Familiarize yourself with the class layout. Take note of the items in the "Start Here" orientation module. Read the Syllabus.
By the end of day #2:
Before 11:59 pm (PT) on the second day of the quarter:
REQUIRED (3 pts): Complete the "Mandatory Orientation Assignment" in Canvas which is to post your introduction on the introductions discussion board (Canvas orientation module >> "Mandatory Orientation Assignment: Introduce Yourself").
Recommended follow-up (2 pts): Read other students' introductions and reply to a couple (by the posted deadline). Maybe something you have in common? Or something that sparked your interest? Share a kindness with a classmate :)
